BJJ Gi Size Guide
Understand BJJ gi size charts, adult and women’s sizing, sleeve and trouser measurements, and what to check when you are between sizes.

Start with the right size chart.
A BJJ gi size chart belongs to a particular brand and model. An A2 from one range is not a promise that another A2 will fit the same way. Start with your current height and weight, then check the garment measurements and cut.
This is a measuring guide, not a Brazilianjiujitsugi product size chart. We do not have verified measurements to publish here yet. Use the chart on the specific product listing before ordering.

What do A, F and M sizes mean?
Many brands use A sizes for adult gis, F sizes for women’s ranges and M sizes for children’s ranges. Those letters are labels, not an industry-wide measurement standard. Some ranges add long, short or wider cuts.
Read the model’s own chart and description. Do not convert a T-shirt size directly into a gi size, or assume that the same letter and number mean the same dimensions across brands.

Measure a gi that fits.
Use a flexible tape and a clean, dry gi. Lay the garment flat without stretching it, and write down the units and exact measurement points. Compare like with like: flat chest width is not body chest circumference.
- Jacket: compare chest width, jacket length and sleeve length using the seller’s stated measurement method.
- Trousers: compare waist, inside leg and outside leg; note whether the waistband measurement is relaxed or extended.
- Fit: try reaching forward and bending your knees. Check that the jacket and trousers allow comfortable movement.

Between sizes? Check the cut.
If height and weight fall into different size bands, ask for advice with both measurements and the model name. A longer sleeve does not necessarily come with the same chest width.
Check the return terms before washing or training in a new gi. Do not buy an oversized gi assuming a hot wash will shrink it by a predictable amount.

Plan for the first wash.
Shrinkage depends on the fabric, construction and laundering. “Pre-shrunk” is not a guarantee of zero change. Follow the care label, and ask the seller whether its measurements describe an unwashed or washed garment.

Buying for competition?
Fit requirements are separate from comfort. Check the current uniform rules for your event and ask your academy if you are unsure. An attractive product image or a familiar size label cannot confirm that your worn gi will pass inspection.
