01 / BJJ gi basics
BJJ gi basics
A Brazilian jiu-jitsu gi is the uniform used for gi training: a woven jacket, trousers and a rank belt. Practitioners grip the jacket and trousers during training, so fit and construction matter. A BJJ gi is sometimes called a kimono.
Gi training uses the jacket, trousers and belt, and grips on the fabric are part of the game. No-gi sessions typically use a rash guard and grappling shorts or other academy-approved training clothing. Check your academy's requirements before your first class.
GSM means grams per square metre. It describes the fabric's weight per area, not the total weight of the finished gi. Treat weave, GSM, fibre composition and construction as separate details: a weight number alone does not prove durability, comfort or competition eligibility.
Pearl weave describes the textured woven structure often used for BJJ jackets. It is a weave name, not a quality grade, so compare it with the fabric weight, fibre content and construction listed for the specific model.
The IBJJF uniform rules list white, royal blue and black gis, with a matching jacket, trousers and collar, plus fit, fabric, belt and patch requirements. Other events may use different rules, so read the current organiser's requirements before buying for a competition.
02 / Collection
Collection
Brazilianjiujitsugi is a brand in development with an editorial focus on Brazilian jiu-jitsu gis, fit and care. Explore contains visual concepts, including fashion studies; published product listings identify the actual items offered for sale.
The Explore collection is a set of original visual design concepts. Its generated images do not show finished stock, and those styles cannot be ordered from the preview pages. The Shop displays only published catalogue products.
No. They are generated design studies that help show a possible silhouette and palette. Final product photography and confirmed specifications will be added to a published listing when a physical product is ready.
03 / Fit & care
Fit & care
Use the size chart for the exact brand and model. Compare your height and weight, then check jacket, sleeve and trouser measurements. The general size guide explains how to compare measurements; it is not a product size chart.
Follow the care instructions on the actual jacket, trousers and belt. Wash after training and let every part dry fully before storing it. Read our care guide for a practical routine.
